Our Story

WHAT WE DO

Seabury Moore is singlehandedly redefining the reputation of general contracting.

Our working owners share years of experience in both architectural design and on-site construction. Throughout our time in the industry, we’ve witnessed operational problems firsthand and noticed them becoming more commonplace.

By founding Seabury Moore, we decided to be part of the solution—to offer an alternative that would be more efficient and effective with lower costs and higher quality.

Seabury Moore is a woman-owned and -operated company in a male-dominated industry. Not only are we committed to changing how a general contractor serves its clients, but we’re also determined to change the standards of internal operations. We prioritize hiring women, minorities, and underrepresented groups in the field of construction, and we support anyone looking to further their skills in the industry.

With a background in art and design, Alycia brings a creative eye and keen sense of style to every endeavor. After earning a Communication Art and Design degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, she worked her way to the top of the graphics department at a small company in Gordonsville, creating designs for product advertisements. Alycia and her husband then started their own venture, Worthington Architectural Millwork, which specializes in custom cabinetry and millwork. Seeing room for improvement in the space of general contracting, she has applied her entrepreneurial and leadership skills to her latest business, Seabury Moore. When Alycia isn’t helping clients create beautiful and functional living spaces in their homes, she can be found devoting time to other passions—all things flora and fauna. She lives up to her middle name Rainbow, championing color and light even on the cloudiest days.

FAQ

What makes Seabury Moore different from other contractors?
We offer a boutique, white-glove service with hands-on involvement from the owners throughout the entire project. Their approach emphasizes personalized communication, efficient resource use, high-quality craftsmanship, and architectural and construction expertise.
Are you a woman‑owned business?
Yes — Seabury Moore is woman‑owned and operated. Our leadership is directly involved in planning, coordinating, and overseeing each project. This brings a high level of professionalism, communication, and detail‑oriented project management that our clients consistently appreciate.
Do you take on both new construction and renovation work?
Yes. Seabury Moore provides full‑scope general contracting for custom home builds, renovations, additions, and historic restoration projects. Our team handles everything from ground‑up construction to complex remodels, ensuring organized scheduling, hands‑on owner involvement, and high‑quality craftsmanship across every type of project. This comprehensive approach allows homeowners to work with a single trusted contractor—no matter the scale or style of the work.
Can you help with architectural design as well as construction?
Yes. Our owners have experience in both architectural design and on‑site construction, which allows us to help bridge any gaps between design intent and real‑world building requirements. Whether we are collaborating with your architect or refining details during pre‑construction, we ensure the project remains buildable, streamlined, and aligned with your goals.
Do you offer custom cabinetry and millwork?
Yes. We provide custom cabinetry and millwork through Worthington Architectural Millwork, ensuring a cohesive, high‑quality finish that aligns with the rest of your home. This integrated approach helps eliminate common coordination issues by keeping fabrication and installation closely aligned with the project schedule and overall design vision.
Do you work on historic renovations outside Charlottesville?
Yes. In addition to Charlottesville, we serve a wide range of Central Virginia communities, including Keswick, Gordonsville, Barboursville, Crozet, Ivy, North Garden, Scottsville, and other nearby areas. We frequently work on properties where historic character and architectural integrity must be preserved, and our team brings the same meticulous planning and owner‑led oversight to every location. If your historic home is within our published service area, we can help you plan and execute a renovation that respects its original craftsmanship while improving long‑term functionality.
Can you combine restoration work with modern upgrades?
Absolutely. Many historic homes benefit from a blend of period‑appropriate restoration and modern comfort upgrades. We can integrate improvements such as updated mechanical systems, efficient layouts, better insulation, or contemporary kitchens and baths—all while maintaining the architectural character that makes the home unique. Our approach is careful and intentional: we preserve defining details while enhancing livability, durability, and everyday usability for the homeowner.
How do you manage surprises in older homes?
Historic properties often come with hidden conditions—aging plumbing, outdated electrical systems, structural irregularities, or previously concealed modifications. We manage these challenges through:

Front‑loaded planning, where we gather as much information as possible before construction begins.
Clear, rapid communication when conditions are uncovered, ensuring homeowners always understand the implications and next steps.
Thoughtful sequencing and trade coordination to minimize disruption and protect existing historic elements.

Our finish‑first mindset means we track details closely throughout the project, not just at the end, ensuring that surprises are handled quickly and with minimal impact on the overall timeline and quality.
Do you serve Spanish‑speaking clients?
Yes. We proudly serve both English‑ and Spanish‑speaking clients throughout Charlottesville and Central Virginia. Clear communication is foundational to our process, and we want every homeowner to feel supported and fully informed at every stage of the project.
How do I schedule a consultation?
To schedule a consultation, call (540) 406‑5200, email info@SeaburyMoore.com or reach out to us on the "Contact" tab on this website.
We’ll connect with you to discuss your project goals, timeline, and next steps, and help determine the best way to move forward.
